Thulium channel waveguide laser with 70% slope efficiency in a monoclinic double tungstate
Laser experiments on 1.5at.%, 5at.%, and 8at.% thulium-gadolinium-lutetium-yttrium co-doped, buried, ridgetype channel waveguides in a monoclinic potassium double tungstate demonstrate a maximum slope efficiency of 70% and output powers of 300 mW at ~1.9 μm. Keywords-component; thulium; monoclinic double tungstates; channel waveguide; infrared lasers
متن کاملUltrafast laser written active devices
Direct-write optical waveguide device fabrication is probably the most widely studied application of femtosecond laser micromachining in transparent dielectrics at the present time. Devices such as buried waveguides, power splitters, couplers, gratings, optical amplifiers and laser oscillators have all been demonstrated. This paper reviews the application of the femtosecond laser direct-write t...
متن کامل320 fs Pulses from an Ultrafast Laser Inscribed Waveguide Laser Utilizing a Carbon Nanotube Saturable Absorber
We report the generation of sub-picosecond modelocked pulses from an ultrafast laser inscribed Er-doped waveguide laser. 320 fs pulses at a repetition rate of 40 MHz and energy of 31 pJ were facilitated via passive modelocking by a carbon nanotube saturable absorber. Keywords-component; waveguide devices; ultrafast optics
متن کاملLaser written waveguide photonic quantum circuits.
We report photonic quantum circuits created using an ultrafast laser processing technique that is rapid, requires no lithographic mask and can be used to create three-dimensional networks of waveguide devices. We have characterized directional couplers--the key functional elements of photonic quantum circuits--and found that they perform as well as lithographically produced waveguide devices. W...
متن کاملDirect laser written waveguide-Bragg gratings in bulk fused silica.
Optical waveguides that incorporate Bragg gratings have been written in bulk fused silica by using the femtosecond laser direct-write method and without the need for lithography or ion-beam techniques. A single manufacturing process is used to create waveguide-Bragg grating reflectors for operation in the C band.
